Why is no one talking about the fact that this pretty guy:

Is Ebisu’s little brother?! Not half brother. Not “I created you from a tear running out of my eye” status. This is just straight up Ebisu’s blood brother. Their faces are even a bit similar!  I want this to become plot relevant, asap.

(And just to make this a little weirder for you: Takemikazuchi was
born from the blood of THIS GUY when Izanagi killed Kagutsuchi’s first
incarnation… Which sorttt of makes Kagutsuchi Takemikazuchi’s dad. Now we know where Take-chan got his pretty hair. By extension, that would mean Ebisu is kind of Takemikazuchi’s uncle…

By the way, maybe we shouldn’t be so hard on Takemikazuchi. He probably can’t help his warmongering. His other dad was a sword.)

While we’re at it, the well-informed @questions-and-queeries pointed out that Shinatsuhiko, this cutie pie:

is also Ebisu’s little brother, as Izanami and Izanagi are also considered his parents, although sources seem conflicted on whether he was born from both Izanagi and Izanami or whether he was born just from Izanagi’s breath blowing away mist.

To further the confusing family tree fun times going on here, Sakuyabime/Konohanasakuya-hime’s father was Oho-Yama, who was also a son of Izanagi and Izanami, meaning Sakuyabime is sort of Ebisu’s niece.

This is actually really interesting. Now I have a craving to go back and see if any of these characters were even hinted at during Ebisu’s subjugation. If they weren’t–is it possible they weren’t present because of their family connection? Might the larger turn-out for Bishamon’s subjugation not only relate to her worse crime (supposed high treason) but also the fact that she is a “foreigner” and doesn’t really have any relatives among the Japanese pantheon?

(And finally, to make it evennnn weirder… If you subscribe to the Tsukiyomi theory, Ebisu and Yato would share the same “father,” making them half brothers of a sort, which would kind of mean Yato could be Kagutsuchi and Shinatsuhiko’s half-brother as well as Takemikazuchi’s half-uncle. @________@ )
