• Probably earlier than expected, since I have a massive thing for foe yay. Super hot lady who looks like she’s got her shit together chasing down a boy who definitely doesn’t have his shit together with whips and guns and swords involved? More please. Battle snarking, I-hate-you-no-I-hate-you-more; we totally have history? Sign me up. That’s some good shit right there.
  
• my thoughts:
• Of course I love Yatori and I don’t want to split them up to promote YatoBisha instead, but all the people who say YatoBisha could never happen strike me as… maybe a little narrow-sighted? Yato and Bishamon are really perfect foils of each other–Bishamon has it all: the loyal shinki, the huge shrine, the riches, the estate in Heaven, god of fortune status, etc. etc., while Yato has nothing–and yet the ways that Yato connects to others are generally better. He might not have had good shinki in the past, but his method of talking things out with Yukine is way healthier than Bishamon’s habit of bottling things in, while Bishamon’s sense of justice and desire to protect the weak is far more pure-hearted than Yato’s motivations. Bishamon knows more about being a god than Yato does, but Yato knows more about how to handle people. They both have things to teach each other, and they are clearly both happier and better off after becoming allies. The whole “he becomes a god of fortune/she’s at risk of becoming a goddess of calamity” thing is not there just because the authors got bored. Parallellssss. Also, let’s be real guys, Yato’s been drawing Bishamon naked for centuries. HE’S DEFINITELY AT LEAST THOUGHT ABOUT IT.
  
• What makes me happy about them:
• BASH BROTHERS TROPE IS MY FAVORITE ACTION TROPE. The back-to-back badass moments are strong with this pair. If they were together, heaven help anyone who tried to stand against them and it would be so damn cool. I mean, their whole dialogue in the recent chapters about how their ship would never sail just made me think it was more likely than ever, because who talks about romance while fighting for their lives??? Guys please, priorities. Their banter is so fabulous, their competitions are so funny, and can we please just talk about how Bishamon was the first person Yato wanted to come to his rescue when he was feeling alone at Kamuhakari? He brought Hiyori and Yukine with him, but nope, there’s no way he can mingle until Bishamon arrives to back him up. Cuteeee. The whole “I definitely don’t like you!” and “W-Well I don’t like you either!” thing is just so entertaining to me. Yato saved Bishamon’s life in the past without ever asking anything from her, and Bishamon dove into hell itself just to rescue Yato. Ultimately, I guess I would say I like this pair because it has the potential to be so funny in comparison to the other pairings. KazuBisha and Yatori have massive potential to be sad… YatoBisha is just hijinks for dayssss. Hey man, Yato’s only kiss in the entire series so far has been Bishamon, roflllll.
  
• What makes me sad about them:
• This pairing could probably only happen if KazuBisha and Yatori were not possible for some reason, and when I imagine the potential situations that might result in Kazuma and Hiyori not being around, I definitely get sad. I definitely wouldn’t mind YatoBisha, but ONLY if nothing were to happen to Kazuma and Hiyori. No “die for our ship” here, please and thank you.

• Make me laughhhhh. I want ridiculously over-the-top competitions. I want everyone else desperately trying to catch up while Yato and Bisha declare they can run across the entire length of Japan faster than the other like “GUYS NO THAT’S A TERRIBLE IDEA–” “STAY OUT OF THIS!! I’M GOING TO WIN!!” I want stupid attempts to one-up the other: “I still have a picture of you in denim shorts!” “Oh yeah?! Remember that time you tried to cook and I had to spend three weeks nursing Kazuma back to health because you poisoned him???”
  Attempts to one-up each other in the dating department too but every
  single plan goes horribly awry because neither of them has any
  experience at all and maybe they shouldn’t have picked scaling Mount
  Everest in the middle of winter??

  And everyone around them just shakes their heads and goes back to sipping their tea because honestly a tsunami couldn’t tear those two stubborn idiots apart when they really start going at it. But also being intensively protective would be lovely: “If you lay a finger on him again, I’ll rip you to shreds!” and “Nobody calls her psycho bitch but me!!”
  

• Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
• Kazuma and Hiyori, of course!
  
• My happily ever after for them:
• They could probably just keep doing what they’re currently doing and I’d be pretty happy with that minus Bishamon getting torn to ribbons KAY THANKS I think it would be sweet if Bishamon was quietly impressed (she will never admit it!!) with the way that Yato interacts so well with all her shinki and how everything seems a little bit brighter now that there’s this completely irrepressible person flitting around… Kofuku goes on and on about she and Daikoku becoming Bishamon’s in-laws and Bishamon comes to earth way more often so she softens up more and more and laughs a little louder and everyone is just one giant family and everything is happy because I say so. And now when he draws sometimes it’s just beautiful portraits of Bishamon, one after another and she’s like ??? C-Could you just?? stop??? I-It’s embarrassing when you’re staring at me so long like that!
  
• who is the big spoon/little spoon:
• There is no spooning. They both flail about so much in their sleep that they might as well be fighting all night long. Yato ends up on the floor half the time but crawling back under the covers into the warmth is so nice…
  
• what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
• Actually fighting. They both massively enjoy having someone at their level to spar with on the daily and competing to see who can get the edge up on the other is a huge rush. Seeing their shinki grow and advance together thanks to their efforts is super rewarding, as is their absolutely flawless teamwork when it comes to thrashing ayakashi in the human world. Mid-air fist bumps are totally a thing guys.
