Yatori c:

  • when I started shipping it if I did:
    • From the very first Noragami episode. The moment they met eyes, I was like “Ooohh, here we go!!”
  • my thoughts:
    • So many oh god I promised I would write an essay but I can’t figure out where to start because they are so much to each othermostly I just want to say that I really, really, really appreciate having a romantic subplot in a shounen manga that is handled in a way at least approaching realistic. It’s not the typical simple case of “boy likes girl” or “girl likes boy” then hijinks ensue. Sure, there’s plenty of that… But there’s also Yato helping Hiyori plan for her future, Hiyori going out of her way to help preserve Yato’s dreams.Their dynamic in the manga/anime isn’t just about their potential relationship–it’s also about them as people, and how much they can help each other grow.
  • What makes me happy about them:
    • Everything Mm… What makes me happiest about them is how ridiculously comfortable they are with each other when neither of them are thinking too hard about it. That scene where Hiyori has no problem with Yato being in her room until he awkwardly points out she’s only wearing a towel was really incredible to me because it speaks volumes to how used to and tolerant they are of each other’s presences. The way Yato just completely unwinds and changes whenever he is near Hiyori is just so… T/////T cute. They trust each other and given few people Yato has been able to put his trust in, that feels so powerful to me.
  • What makes me sad about them:
    • That the situation they are in now cannot last forever. In order for them to get any form of happy ending, something massive has to change, and I know that change is going to hurt.
  • things done in fanfic that annoys me:
    • When one or the other is characterized as confident romantically, even in established relationship fics. Yato and Hiyori are two of the most shy and anxious main characters to grace current shounen manga, and they could be married with kids and I’m willing to bet they’d still be getting flustered around each other.
  • things I look for in fanfic:
    • I just look for fanfics, there are not enough to be picky!! But my favorite Yatori stories are those in which their relationship is not actually the primary plot point. I feel like their relationship is much more organically written when it happens as the result of other action going on around them.
  • Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
    • Don’t kill me guys please don’t kill me but if Yato ended up with Bishamon I’d be okay with it. As for Hiyori… Touno-sama, definitely. XP
  • My happily ever after for them:
    • At least as far as I see it, there’s only three possible happy-happy endings: Something happens to make Hiyori immortal, the story ends before the aging becomes a major issue, or something happens to Yato to make him mortal. Of the three, the last one is actually my preferred option, because becoming mortal would make Yato useless to/free him from Father’s plans and not force Hiyori to lose her family and friends by dying. After the end of a fulfilling human life where they’d both still be able to see Yukine, they could be deified again and go right back to their youthful fun and games. XD I’m sure there’s a million problems with this possibility, but I’d find something like this preferable.
  • who is the big spoon/little spoon:
    • lol Hiyori is definitely the big spoon. Yato would find being cuddled by Hiyori to be the best thing in the world.
  • what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
    • Spending time with all their friends–eating dinner at Kofuku’s, popping over to Bishamon’s to observe Yukine’s training, going out on the town with Yukine for the day. Both of them seem like they’re happiest when the people around them are happy, so seeing each other happy is probably their very favorite thing.
