I know everyone is up in arms over this panel because of the Endeavor plushie, but is no one going to talk about the fact that Hawks was living in/near a place completely full of trash and alcohol bottles? What else am I supposed to get from this panel but the idea that Hawks had a very poor and/or difficult home life as a child??
Uhhh, can we just talk about the fact that he was almost inevitably forced into becoming a hero thanks to monetary sponsorships literally foisted on him? That it’s entirely possible he’s been used as source of income by his family since the time he was 6-7? That his drive to become a successful pro-hero as fast as possible might not be because of his personal wishes at all but out of a sense of obligation to those he loves and cares about?
And now, after years of being yanked around on a chain by the higher-ups, they’re asking even more of him, practically sending him into the jaws of certain death, compromising his most fundamental ideals…

Isn’t it so telling that he’s repeatedly stated a dream of having free time???

H-Hi, Horikoshi, I just have one question–when are we getting the beautiful two-page spread of Hawks trapped in a (barely) metaphorical bird cage, because I think you’re pretty heavily implying that my poor son has NEVER BEEN FREE and I can’t even, I just can’t even with this–
