Ahh, to be honest, I don’t have ten published stories anymore because I deleted all my old fics because I write so slow and my fics are so long and all my real publications are poems because that’s what my degree’s in lol. So um, I guess I’ll do some fics and stories that I started writing but haven’t finished?

1)
Keith was beginning to feel like it wasn’t supposed to go this way
was just the overarching motto of his entire existence, and that he
should probably give up on expecting anything to ever play out like he
planned, if he didn’t want a prevailing sense of all-consuming
disappointment to be the most defining feature of the rest of his life.

Home and a Half

2) “Hello Ienzo.” – The Violet Room

3) So she’d killed herself? – Finder’s Keepers, my unfinished novel project

4)

The vulture had come out of the low hills early
in the morning, at the head of a wind veined by drifting autumn dust. – The Ash Queen, another unfinished novel project v_v

5) This is how it begins: Tony makes a tasteless
comment about carnies.

The Rag and Bone Shop of the Heart, an Avengers fic

6)

If there was one bright spot in this whole situation, it was that he was
no longer lost.

Absentia, a Durarara fic

7) She knows that somehow, somewhere along the
line, she made a mistake with Kaoru.

Endurance, a .hack//G.U. fic

8) After the end, Lea combs the battlefield, less vigilance than restlessness, less precaution than grief. – Milk and Honey, a Kingdom Hearts fic

9)

“This better be worth it,” he repeated for the
thirty-seventh time, although the roaring of the wind along the
jagged edges of the mountain path threw the words right back into his mouth.

No Contest, a Pokemon fic

10)

It
starts like this: 3:02 a.m.

– I don’t want to say anything about this one so just pretend you didn’t see it, mmkay?

In media res is the only way to start a story. Exposition? Never heard of her.

Also, I really like the sort of story-telling feel of starting with acknowledging the start; I think I’ve used “This is how it starts” in quite a few places, actually.

I feel really awkward about tagging people since I never know if people want to be tagged or not, so I’ll just extend this to all my followers who are writers–please share your opening lines with me? ❤
