dude, shipping has always just been… for fun, not about what’s canon. atla voltron and bnha are all series about action and friendships formed within it, not romance. to suggest the writers “should rethink” side elements in *their own story* is surreal levels of entitled. People don’t ask an artist to alter their fic or art just because they personally didn’t like it, why on earth would you think it’s fine ask other artists the same?
