In chapter 7 of HaaH, Niresh says “Take it back, Dulsara Kes. You ain’t been right since Yedgi died, but that’s too much, even fer a lion!” Why is it that lions are viewed negatively in Galra culture when, despite the lions being an enemy of the Galra as of the past year(?), their own emperor piloted one and wants the others?

I apologize, in this case, it’s a matter of my writing being overly ambiguous! I didn’t want to dwell on this sentence or give my usual world-building notes because this is a bit foreshadow-y to something that is going to become relevant later… Sometimes my writing is not as straightforward as it should be, sorry! For …

Ahhhh, thank you very much for your message! I’m still so overwhelmed to be getting all these questions and hearing that people like the story!!Keith is a good boy who is doing his best! There’s a lot of things he doesn’t know how to do, but that’s not going to stop him from putting 110% …

I was re-reading Home and a Half for the nth time and I got to the part in chapter 5 where Niresh is falling asleep an realized I’d been reading “his white hair” as ‘her’ white hair. It’s not super important but as a very visual thinker I figured I’d shoot you an ask- does Keith have white hair? I absolutely love HaaH to pieces, and I hope you stay warm this January! ^-^

Hi! I’m so excited to hear that people like the story enough to re-read it! O(≧∇≦)OAnd yes, in Home and a Half, Keith does have white hair in his Galra form, although when he looks human, it’s still the same old normal black. His shapeshifting is very magical-girl-esque, complete with palette swap! It’s been vaguely implied …

Thank you guys all so very much for all these wonderful messages!! THANK YOU THANK YOU! I’m really overwhelmed by the amount of love pouring in over the fic and I’m so glad to hear that so many new readers are catching up with the story!I too love hyper-obscure tropes my friend so I know …

I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about HaaH. Mostly imagining the piles of hugs and group hugs that he’s gonna get when everything is finally talked about instead of dodged around. I really hope that once his big secret breaks, Keith learns to let the others know when something’s bothering him. Is his strong, not-needing-to-debrief attitude/act related to how isolated he feels? A cycle of getting no help?

Don’t worry, I GOTCHU FAM!! 😂💕 Only the best for the best boy! After I get through torturing him, anyway.I’ve actually been meaning to say something about this for a while; a couple people have asked now about Keith’s reluctance to seek help/why he puts on such a tough act around the team. And yes, you’re …

ok ok ok last one for now, I promise! I just keep thinking of more! Anyway, I’m wondering, is the level of bonding between the children normal, or just born from being on an isolated base together? Because I’m imagining Galra creches, Star Wars style, and it’s adorable. Like, with it being a military state, and so many parents being deployed, would there have been another place for them to go to be with other ‘military’ kids, if they didn’t have family? (sorry, I’m probably driving you bonkers!)

Definitely not bothering me! Actually these kinds of questions are super helpful–this is really giving me a chance to sit down and write out the thoughts that were vaguely swimming in the back of my head before. I’m definitely having to think hard to make sure everything is logical, which will probably really help the …

oookkay I’m back with more because obviously my favorite hobby is dissecting your fanfic. So like, if Shiro is counted as part of Keith’s family (or whatever the Galra-equivalent word is), what does that mean for Keith’s guilt over his heritage/appearance/life? I feel like family bonds are really important in Galran society, especially your version, so I’m curious what that level of mistrust and guilt would mean in a ‘typical’ family unit, and how that translates over? Does that make any sense??

Sorry this one took me a while to answer; it’s a really great ask and I had to take some time to think about how to answer it. (I only pretend I know what I’m doing with this fic… 99% winging it. XD) The first thing I would say is that even though I feel …
