Kindly stop tagging your non-Sheith meta as sheith. It’s rude. If I wanted to read about klance, I would look it up in the klance tag.

I tagged it that way specifically to piss you off.Or, you know, because I spent multiple paragraphs noting that, as the emotional heart of the story, Keith has an important impact on Shiro’s character and that his strongest tensions include links to Shiro, before I transitioned into the statement that applying the premise of my …

Why Do Certain Ships Become So Popular? (And Why Should Writers Rethink When They Do?) – Part 1

(Damn, look who’s showing up ten years late to this discussion with Starbucks…)Hey guys, just want to start with a preface here: I’ve recently been in several separate conversations about why certain ships become so popular, what leads people (and woman in particular) to ship so much, why certain fandoms become over-zealous in their shipping, …

Why Do Certain Ships Become So Popular? (And Why Should Writers Rethink When They Do?) – Part 2

<- Start back at part 1 or you’re going to be very confused! This time my victim of choice example is Klance (and Allurance and Lotura too).In a previous post, I established the premise that shippers focus their efforts and attention on ships between characters who exhibit the most compelling dynamism, the greatest amount of …

Maybe you don’t want to answer this, but do you think Voltron falls under the bury your gays, word of gay and/or queerbaiting tropes?

Ah, at the risk of my follow count which dips whenever I’m anything less than glowing about Voltron, lol…1) The Voltron writers knew about the “bury your gays” trope and killed their gay characters anyway, so yeah, that’s pretty blatantly bury your gays, no way around that. Another anon. Regarding the ship ask I think it should be acknowledged that skin color and sex is also a reason as to why the ships are popular. 2 light skinned guys among a cast of darker skinned characters? 1 of them being canonically Japanese? And the other ship with a light dark skinned boy around the same age. All being male. Oh yeah ppl are fetishizing the hell out of the characters. A (This is in no way meant to be rude to you, just pointing it out)

I mean… “Cast of darker skinned characters” isn’t really accurate unless you’re including the alien characters like the Galra. Until Season 7, there were only two major characters darker than Lance, Hunk and Allura, both of whom are shipped as well, although I agree that Hunk is under-appreciated (but again, that’s in part because the …

Can I just say how much I hate, hate, hate when the Voltron crew attends panels?Like there is literally nothing that leaves a worse taste in my mouth.Between the irritating people who ask questions about Klance and the EP saying “Shiro loves Keith” despite knowing exactly how that would be taken (and how much drama …
