Ah, at the risk of my follow count which dips whenever I’m anything less than glowing about Voltron, lol…1) The Voltron writers knew about the “bury your gays” trope and killed their gay characters anyway, so yeah, that’s pretty blatantly bury your gays, no way around that. Maybe if it had been one of the …

Hot Take
“If you only watch for ships, get out” is the same kind of elitist, condescending behavior utilized by antis to fuel their rhetoric and actively contributes to an increasingly toxic fandom environment, rather than in any way improving it.You don’t get to tell people how to watch a show or what to watch shows for. …

Y I K E S. 'Voltron' EPs break down the journey to LGBT+ representation ahead of season 7
Sigh…
Look, don’t get me wrong at all, I am so excited for actual LGBT representation in Voltron and I’m so glad that they chose a beloved character like Shiro to be that representation–I am absolutely not ungrateful and you will never catch me whining that it wasn’t any of the other characters such as Lance. …
aaawunder: you can trace nearly every problem with the second act of vld (s3 to s6) back to the writers’ obsession with keith having a leadership arc. it’s unreal just how badly vld got screwed over, it’s actually unreal. Keep reading And here’s the tea, ladies and gentlemen.

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you find so bad? I mean, I can see rushed and incomplete plots plus plot holes with my novice eyes, but what do the eyes of a master see? And on the flip, what good do you see? I’m curious because it seems to me that you are a meticulous, scrupulous type and I find it an experience to try and see something from someone else’s pov, especially when said person has more skill or knowledge than me. I’m not saying they’re always right though. Just, different.
seasonsandcenturies: echodrops: Agreed–I definitely don’t want to go around suggesting that my way of viewing things is somehow better or more right than anyone else’s; everyone sees things differently, and obviously the Voltron writers have a very specific vision in mind for their own story. I’m sure they have a whole creative process and plan …

to creators currently burning themselves on that fandom pyre
ptw30: sol1056: The latest post from one of the VLD VAs highlights something I’ve been feeling about the high level of creator-fandom interaction in VLD. Note: I use ‘creator’ on a broad sense here, of anyone involved in the work’s creation: EPs, directors, voice actors, animators, and on. Anyone involved in producing the canonical broadcast …
