I love Heith!! I’ve always been a big fan of Heith since they threw the party in season 1 and Keith and Hunk were so cute together. (Like when did we ever see Keith smiling that big ever again in the entire series? NEVER.)

Hunk amuses and makes Keith happy, and in a series that seems to delight in beating the shit out of Keith and Keith’s feelings specifically, this was a rare ray of brightness in the gloom. As much as I love angst and drama, it’s also relieving sometimes to just ship a ship that’s built on being sweet and kind and supportive, and that’s Heith for me.

But beyond the potential for mutual supportiveness and such, there’s also the fact that, as much as we like to treat Hunk as the incorruptible ray of sunshine, he’s really quiet pushy, nosy, and sarcastic. Hunk’s dry wit and attitude is something I think Keith would greatly appreciate, because Keith is also pretty sarcastic when he finally gets pushed to the point where just glaring at people doesn’t get his message across. It would not surprise me to see Keith and Hunk standing off to the side in a coalition or Garrison meeting just quietly picking apart people’s real messages under their honeyed words and roasting people for their poor life choices. Don’t @ me, you know they would.

Plus, I think Hunk’s nosy nature, as much as it might irritate Keith, could also be good for him. Keith is literally the champion of the “I’m fine” brush off, never wants to talk about himself, his past, his issues, or what he’s thinking. I feel like, if the series had bothered to treat Hunk with any degree of real respect, we would have gotten a lot more scenes of Hunk trying to pry his way past Keith’s giant “don’t touch me” walls and figure out more about Keith’s thoughts and feelings–especially to help him work through some of the really rough stuff he still needs to process. Other characters just let things that don’t pertain to them go, but we’ve seen that Hunk is like a dog with a bone when there are secrets he wants to find out, and I would have appreciated a lot more scenes of him working his nosy magic on Keith to get past Keith’s prickly exterior to the more vulnerable side that really probably needed the help of a close friend through a lot of troubles in this series.

I think it’s telling that Hunk is still one of the ONLY characters in the entire series to even talk one-on-one to Keith about his being Galra. Even if the way Hunk brought it up wasn’t the most polite, at least he didn’t act like it never happened…

Also, if you don’t look at this and think it’s the cutest shit ever, I don’t even know what to tell you, man.
